Financial Assistance

New Jersey Victims of Crime Compensation Office (VCCO)

What It Offers: Financial help for funeral expenses: $5,000 initially upon confirming victim status, with an additional $5,000 after the investigation verifies criminal activity & cause of death. Counseling, lost wages, and crime-scene cleanup costs (total possible maximum award: $25,000, depending on case outcomes).

Who’s Eligible: Families must report the crime to the police within 3 months and cooperate with the investigation. Apply within 2 years (exceptions possible).
