New York State Office of Victim Services (OVS)

What It Offers: Financial help for funeral expenses: $3,000 initially upon confirming victim status, with an additional $3,000 after the investigation verifies criminal activity & cause of death. Counseling, lost wages, and crime-scene cleanup costs (total possible maximum award: $30,000, depending on case outcomes).

Who’s Eligible: Families must report the crime to the police within 1 week and cooperate with the investigation. Apply within 1 years (exceptions possible).
